Don't Lose Hope

Don’t Lose Hope

Hope is defined as a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.

What are you hoping for? What have you lost hope for?

In an earlier blog post (click here to read), I wrote about the spiritual warfare we are in and how satan's goal is to keep us from reaching our full purpose-driven potential while on this earth. He does that by convincing us to quit, to stop believing and hoping.

If he can stop us from hoping, we begin to place our faith and value into people and worldly things that can never fulfill us, no matter how much we indulge. When we stop hoping, we stop pursuing the promptings that Holy Spirit has placed on our heart, we stop dreaming and start to settle for less.

But a free woman does not settle! She presses on.

Hebrews 11:1 reads, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

Psalms 119:14 reads, "You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word." Why should you confidently hope in God's word?

Because in Isaiah 55:10-11, God said: "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish...so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

Wake up!

Girl! God has spoken a word over your life. Before He formed you in the womb, He knew you! Do not lose hope, whatever your situation is. Get in the presence of God to hear the word He has not only for your life but for the specific season you are in right now.

The way you hear the word God has for you is by:

  1. Silencing the noise around you

  2. Being able to recognize His voice

  3. Receiving godly wisdom

What do I mean by silencing the noise around you? I mean eliminating distractions. When you spend time in the presence of God, is your cell phone in arms reach? Is the TV or radio on? Are you trying to engage in a conversation while glossing over the words in your devotional? Get in a place where there are no distractions so you can focus on what's important.

The only you can start to recognize the voice of God is by spending time with Him. The more time you spend with Him, the more you get to know Him, and when you start to really know God and understand who He is beyond the Instagram memes and stories you've heard from other people, you will see no other option but to hope in Him and His word.

I'm sure your life is full of people with an opinion on how you should live your life, who you should date, how to raise your kids, and the list goes on. But there are people who God has positioned in your life that He wants to use to impart godly wisdom to you.

Ask God to reveal who that person or people are and ask that He prepare your heart to receive what they share. Don't lose hope. Get in the presence of God and into His word so He can restore your hope, and you will be encouraged to keep going forward in confidence that He will not fail you.
