Your Faith is Powerful

The Power of Your Faith

When I think of great women of faith, my mom is the first to come to mind. I've seen her boldly proclaim her faith, even when those closest to her were doubtful. And I've seen God show up for her in ways that have blown my mind. I used to think that I could never have faith as she did. I had a narrative running in my head that her level of faith was unattainable for me.

Have you ever felt like that? As if your faith was not enough or would never be enough.

Faith is a muscle that has to be developed and tested. But no matter how small your faith is, it is powerful nonetheless. In Matthew 17:20, Jesus says, "...if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you. And in Luke 17:6, God says, "If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.

It's not a matter of if your faith is powerful; it's a matter of increasing its power.

When you believe the lie that your faith is not enough, you stop praying, stop hoping and stop trusting in God. Instead, you either give up or rely solely on the faith of those around you. Now, there are challenging seasons (trust me, I know from experience) you will endure where you have to rely on the faith and prayers of those around you because you may not have it in you. But a season does not last forever. Eventually, you have to move back to a place where you are exercising the power of your faith.

Exercise your Faith

Faith is more than a belief; it is tied to an action. Your steps must match your belief. For example, let's say you have faith that God will make way for you to spend more time at home with your kids. Have you talked with your manager about work-from-home opportunities or another position? Have you started searching for less time demanding jobs? Have you sat down with your husband to look at the household budget to see if being a stay-at-home mom is an option?

Maybe you desire to start a business, and you say you have faith that God will make it happen. Have you done any research on starting the business? Are you saving money?

FAITH = BELIEF + ACTION

YOUR faith is powerful. YOUR faith is enough. Believe, take a step toward your belief and watch how God responds to your faith.
